Qual Times - Please RSVP NOW for Quals and Champs Relays - Sign up for Quals/Champs Job

TIME TO CHECK IF YOUR SWIMMER HAS QUAL TIMES AND TO RSVP FOR QUALS AND CHAMPS AND VOLUNTEER FOR A JOB AT QUALS OR CHAMPS

Please read below so you know what is going on for Quals and Champs!

Quals are coming up soon. July 11 at 6:00 pm is 11 and Over Quals at Lake Forest Lodge Pool. July 13 at 6 pm is 10 and Younger Quals at Springhurst. (You only attend the Qual of your swimmers age group). Swimmers and Volunteers need to arrive at Quals at 4:45 pm like a regular meet.

Then Sunday July 17 is Division II Champs at Owl Creek (This is Owl Creek the subdivision neighborhood located at 10607 Hobbs Creek Road 40223 - NOT the Owl Creek Country Club in Anchorage). Champs starts at 8 a.m. and will be done by noon. All swimmers and volunteers need to arrive and check in by 7 am for Champs. Parking will be all street parking through the neighborhood so please plan extra time to park and walk to the pool.

In order to swim at Quals, your swimmer needs to get a time in a regular season dual meet in an event that beats the Division 2 Qualifying Time (“qual time”) for that event. Attached are the Qual times. Check your swimmers best time agaisnt this chart to see if they are eligible to swim that event at Quals. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask one of the coaches about it. If you already have a qual time, please RSVP yes on the team website for the Qual event you will attend (and it would really help us out if you would rsvp NO on the Qual that is NOT your age group). You MUST RSVP FOR QUALS IF YOU HAVE A QUALIFYING TIME AND PLAN TO COME TO QUALS. Otherwise we will not know if you plan to attend.

Each swimmer can swim up to 3 individual events at Quals. If your swimmer has qualified in more than 3 events you may put requests to the coaches in the notes on your RSVP of which events your swimmer prefers to swim at Quals. This does not guarantee that the coaches will be able to honor all requests. They made need to spread the swimmers in the age group out (so our best swimmers are not all swimming the same event and knocking each other out) to score the more points for the team at Champs. No relays are swum at Quals.

RSVP now for Champs Relays

The top 12 swimmers at the Qualifications Meet in each event move onto Championships for that event (plus 2 alternates). We also get to send an A and B relay in each relay event to Champs. That is at least 8 kids in each group that will swim relays. So even if your swimmer does not make it to Champs in an individual event, they will probably be needed on a relay. Please RSVP YES for Champs on the team website if you will be available for relays. We will announce relays for Champs after we see who is available. We only know who is available if your RSVP for Champs NOW and tell us that your swimmer is available.

EVERYONE GOING TO QUALS OR CHAMPS NEEDS TO VOLUNTEER FOR A JOB

VOLUNTEERS – We will need parents volunteers to help at Quals and Champs. Since not every swimmer goes to Quals and Champs, we will need one volunteer from every family that attends Quals and Champs to volunteer for a job at either Quals or Champs. This is in addition to the regular season volunteer requirement and also applies to the Gold sponsors. Please sign up for a job on the team website for either Quals or Champs when you RSVP your swimmer’s attendance.

FYI To see if your swimmer got a Qual time, look at is your swimmer's best time in each event from a meet during the season and compare it with the Division 2 Qual times for the age group and gender. In order to swim a particular event at Quals, a swimmer must beat the Division 2 Qual time for that event at least once in a dual meet during the season. I am attaching the Division 2 Qual times. They are unchanged for this season. Please compare your swimmer's time to see how far off they are.
