Next Steps for Lake Forest Swim & Dive

Attention All Lake Forest Swim & Dive Parents:

Welcome to the 2022 Lake Forest Swim & Dive Team if you have already registered (there are still a few stragglers - please don't forget to register by the May 31 final deadline)! We just wanted to reach out and tell all families about a few things you need to know as we get ready to start the season. If you have any questions, you can always email or call Jessica Petrie or Laura Haara.  We will explain these items below in more detail at tonight's Dolphin Kick Off at 6:00 at the Lodge.

We will be sending out information about how to sign up your kids for swim meets and how to sign up for volunteer jobs on our new and improved website later this week. Remember to check the team website www.lakeforestswim.com for information. We will try to have everything posted there. But you must log in with user name and password to see everything.

Thanks, your Lake Forest Swim Team Co-Chairs,

Laura Haara 235-4304. [email protected]

Jessica Petrie 240-2049 [email protected]

Here is a checklist of things for ALL PARENTS to do to get ready for the season:

  • Register your swimmer in Swimmingly to get their required swimmer number necessary for them to be entered into meets.

Swimmingly is the system that LSA Division 2 uses to run the actual swim meets. Each swimmer must get a unique Swimmingly number to be entered into meets that they will use all season. If you follow the instructions below then all returning swimmers will get the same number as last year (super important if you want to track your season to season time improvements and avoid duplicates in our system) and all new swimmers to the team will be assigned a number.

The steps below are required for ALL (new and returning) swimmers to swim in meets this season. Please take action ASAP so we can get ready for the season! Your child cannot be entered in a meet this summer until you take this action.

Returning Parents with an active Swimmingly® account

  • Download the Swimmingly App and Swimmingly Fan App to work the meets and see your kids’ times during the meet

If you are ever a timer or stroke and turn judge at a meet you will need to have the Swimmingly App on your phone because you will actually open and use the app on the pool deck during the meet. We ask that everyone go ahead and download the free Swimmingly App now so that workers do not show up at the meet without the app downloaded and delay the start of the meet. To see your kids’ times as the meets progress and after the meets are over, please download the free version of the Swimmingly Fan App (you can do the pay version if you want the extra features but not required).

  • Download the free Swimtopia App to get instant alerts

Often times during the summer it starts to storm before or during morning practices or before or during meets. In the past we have used different text alert systems for coaches to send out quick text message alerts. Those systems now charge a fee so we are going to use the notification system built in to our Swimtopia website platform. To get notifications on your phone, please download the Swimtopia App and be sure to set notifications to ON in both the App and your phone settings.

  • Time to get your Team Swim Suits!

We will again have the solid black suit for 2022 season. You can buy it at Dolphin Kick Off tonight or anytime at Swimville on Shelbyville Road in Middletown, and they can add our LF logo onto the suit. While you are there, you can pick up practice suits, goggles, and anything else you need. 20% off everything (except team suits) on May 20!

Each swimmer will receive one team t-shirt as part of registration. But as in years past, we will have an online shop for family members to purchase spirit wear to support our Lake Forest swimmers.

Go to the Team Store Tab at the team website www.lakeforestswim.com. This year we will be featuring men's and women's tanks, T-shirts, long sleeve shirts, hooded sweatshirts for the adults, and sweatshirts and drawstring bags for the kids! (Lots of kids like a sweatshirt as a cover up during meets once the sun goes down).

The store will close on Tuesday, June 7, at midnight. This will be the day following our first swim meet. Items will be available to pick up before the next swim meet two weeks later.

This year‘s theme is tie-dye and many of our store options are high-quality tie-dye. Our print shop wants to remind our families to wash all items inside out and on cold. As with most tie-dye items, there is a chance for color transference before the first wash. Any items that are sized differently than normal will be noted on the website. Personalization is not offered through the printer. Please feel free to reach out with any questions to Cala Brooks at [email protected]

  • Night Practices are Already Underway and Morning Practices Start May 31

We are going to have a few evening practices in May before the Lodge Pool officially opens for those who are interested on Thursday May 19, Tuesday May 24 and Thursday May 26, at the Lodge Pool weather permitting.

May Dive practices and demos will be May 19, 24, and 26 from 5:00 pm-6:30 pm on those days. If you did not sign up for dive team, but are interested and want to see what it is about, please stop by the dive demos anytime, observe, talk to the dive coach and dive chair, and try it out! (We will let people sign up for dive team after the demos if they decide they want to do join the dive team after all!)

May Swim practices will be May 19, 24, and 26 6:00 pm- 6:30 for ages 6 and under; 6:30 pm -7:15 pm for ages 7-10; and 7:15-8:15 for ages 11 and older. We just want everyone meet the other kids and get back in the water as soon as we can! Again, these are voluntary practices because we realize some people are still in school, have final exams, still have other sports, etc. Come if you can and if the weather permits

Regular, morning swim practices start May 31. 8:00 am – 9:00 am for 7 – 10 year olds; 8:45 (dryland for first 15 minutes) -10:00 for ages 11 and older; 10:00-10:45 am for ages 6 and under. Morning practices are Monday – Friday from May 31 – July 15 . We do not take attendance, but we encourage you to come to as many as you can.

Regular, afternoon dive practice starts May 31. 10 and under age groups: 5:30 - 6:30 pm. 11 and over age groups: 6:30 - 8:00 pm.

  • Ask to join the Lake Forest Swim & Dive Facebook page

We have a closed page for the Lake Forest Swim & Dive Team. Please ask to join as another way to get information about the Team and share photos. I also use this site for “Lost and Found” items left behind at practices and meets! A lot of “fake” accounts frequently ask to join the group so I may DM you and ask you what is our mascot. The answer is DOLPHIN!
