First Day of Morning Practice Tomorrow - Checklist
Here is a check list to make sure you have done everything you need to do before this first official week of the season. Its going to be a great season! Go Dolphins!
MORNING SWIM PRACTICES START TOMORROW, JUNE 1
SWIM morning practices Monday - Saturday
Swimmers should wear a swim suit to practice (any one piece swim suit is fine for practice) and bring goggles, towel, and water bottle to hydrate on hot days.
If you plan to stay at the pool after practices are over when the pool officially opens, you must MUST exit the pool area before 11:00 and check back in to the pool with the LF pool procedures.
7-10 years: 8:00 - 9:00 am
11-18 years: 8:45 - 9:00 am drylands (bring athletic shoes and socks for dryland) and in the pool 9:00 - 10:00 am
6 and under: 10:00 - 10:45 am.
GET THE LAKE FOREST SWIM SUIT AND SPIRITWEAR
You can buy a Lake Forest team suit for meets at Swimville in Middletown. Quality goggles can be purchased at Swimville as well. They will fit them to your child’s face size and shape. Kids will not enjoy swimming if their goggles fill with water or face off their eyes when they dive in. It is worth investing in a good, quality pair for swim team.
You can still order Spiritwear, such a sweatshirts, sweatpants, shorts, bags, etc. on the lakeforestswim.com team website.
A T shirt and LF swim cap is included with your registration and will be distributed before the first meet. Swim cap wearing is optional. They can wear any swim cap at practice.
However, if your child wears a cap at meets, please have them wear the Lake Forest cap. It is actually against the rules for any swimmer to wear a swim cap of another team in a meet and they can be disqualified if they do; so no Lakeside, Triton, Cardinal, High School, College Team, or USA Olympic swim caps at meets!
REGISTER IN SWIMMINGLY BY JUNE 2 SO YOUR CHILD CAN BE ENTERED IN THE FIRST MEET
All swimmers need to be registered in our Swimmingly database by June 2nd in order to be able to be able to be entered in meets. To do so, you must first follow this link:
https://clubhouse.swimmingly.app/clubs/register/26...
Our team uses Swimmingly to run the meets and it assigns a unique number to each swimmer which will follow them throughout the season. Returning families should also follow the link to ensure all swimmers are registered and ready for the first meet.
There are also two Swimmingly apps that will be used. If you plan to be a timer this summer, then you will want to download the Swimmingly app to your mobile device. Each timer will use this to time the swimmers in your lane. Please make sure you have this downloaded before the first meet.
The other app, Swimmingly Fan, is an app that allows you to follow along in real-time during racing to provide notifications of upcoming races, results, and heat sheet information. Our team fees this year included the cost of this app for every Louisville Swim Association team, but everyone will still need to download the app in order to take advantage of its features. After following the link above and registering, please download the Swimmingly Fan app and search for "Lake Forest Swim Team 2021." You may not see your swimmer right away. After the first entries are added for the first meet by the weekend, you should see your swimmer.
TELL US WHICH MEETS YOUR SWIMMER WILL AND WILL NOT BE ATTENDING FOR THE WHOLE SEASON ON THE TEAM WEBSITE
Please make sure you are declaring your swimmer(s) intent to attend or not attend each and every meet. If you fail to declare we are left wondering if that means no, your swimmer will not be there or you just forgot to declare. The deadline to register for the first meet is next Wednesday, June 2nd. If you have not declared yes or no by that time, we will NOT enter your child in the meet. In past years we had to spend hours each week emailing, texting and calling parents who did not declare to see if they swimmer was swimming or not. We do not have time to do this each week. So if your swimmer is not declared by the deadline, they will just not be entered.
Please go and ahead and declare yes or no for all the meets of the summer. If something changes, you can always log in and change your designation. If you have any questions, please contact Kristi Seidenfaden [email protected].
IF YOU HAVE NOT SELECTED YOUR VOLUNTEER JOBS PLEASE DO SO NOW
Visit www.lakeforestswim.com and under the Meets & Events tab find the 2021 Meets. You can register for every meet and volunteer job for the season on Saturday. Each family that is not either a Gold or Platinum Sponsor will need either 3 full or 6 half meet requirements. New jobs have been added. We will be checking to make sure everyone has selected jobs. Registration deadline for the first meet is Wednesday, June 2nd by 11:59 PM.
If you have questions or concerns about volunteer jobs, please contact our volunteer coordinator Susie Pechaur [email protected].
SIGN UP FOR TEXT ALERTS FOR REMINDERS AND WEATHER NOTICES
Lake Forest Swim and Dive Team will be using Rainedout texting/email service this season to communicate updates to our parents. Cancellations or time changes to practices or meets due to weather will be communicated by text.
It is simple: just visit the following website to register: www.rainedout.com
Click Receive Messages
Click Find My Organization then type “Lake Forest Swim”
In the middle of the screen click on the preferred results of “Lake Forest Swim Team”
Follow the prompts to complete the sign-up for text alerts.
Please Note: There is no cost to you to receive texts. This is a sender pays, not a recipient pays. Our swim team covers this cost. You will not be charged to receive texts. There is a prompt that says you might be charged $7.30 but that cost is paid by the team (at a lesser team rate).
CHECK OUT ATTACHMENTS TO LEARN HOW TO READ A HEAT SHEET AND HOW TO WRITE MEET EVENTS ON YOUR SWIMMER'S ARM BEFORE THE FIRST MEET
Parents will need to write the meet events on their own child's arm before arriving at the meet. Instructions are attached.
REFUNDS
Please note: if any first-time swimmer has decided not to be on the team after all and wants to request a refund, this MUST be done IN WRITING by emailing Laura Haara [email protected] before the first meet on June 7. This is only for first-time swimmers.
